Butcher’s creative concoctions going down a treat

-

A BUTCHER’S has been delighting Earl Shilton customers with its weird and wonderful sausage flavours.

Bevins Butchers, based on The Hollow, has been cooking up unusual concoctions for its meatloving customers, including lemon curd and marshmallow and cheese and pickle.

The long-standing shop also sells healthier, low-fat chicken sausages and has a special ‘guest’ creation each week, such as beef and sweet chilli.

Other popular flavours include pork and black pudding, honey and mustard, and pork, celery and stilton.

Matthew May, who works at the shop, is an award-winning sausage maker and said that he had helped to introduce unusual flavours in every butcher’s he had worked in.

He added: “I work for the cur- rent owner, Peter Wright, who took the business over 13 months ago.

“I believe the shop has been there for about 50 years, and I work for him as a butcher but wherever I have worked I have introduced strange flavour sausages.

“The sausages go down really well with customers as they seem to like them as we sell out of the strange ones every week.

“The sausages range from pork, cheese and pickle, healthy chicken and leek to even stranger combinations like pork lemon curd and marshmallow.

“We do a guest one each week too.”

The price per kg for the sausages ranges from £6.59 to £8.50 for South African Boerewors.
