Sponsored walk at George Eliot
A SPONSORED walk to raise money to support people with bowel cancer is happening at the George Eliot Hospital this Sunday (September 24).
Walkers can take either a short family walk or an extended route for more experienced walkers, in aid of patients with colorectal cancer.
The Bowel Cancer Patients Support group at the hospital is organising the event.
Anyone who has experienced colorectal or bowel cancer is invited to join the free support group, hosted by clinical nurse specialists from the hospital.
Patients share their experiences and support each other, talking about issues such as the longterm effects of surgery, dietary needs following an operation and understanding your cancer diagnosis.
There is also an opportunity to discuss the colorectal service and provide information to improve patient experience.
It meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month, from 6pm to 8pm, at the hospital’s training and education centre.
It starts at 10am, at the training and education centre, with free parking available outside the centre. The entry fee for the walk is £2.
Anyone interested in joining the group, or who wants more information about the sponsored walk, can contact 0247 615 3126 or 07717 727572, or email colorectal@geh.nhs.uk.
