DO you love food? Have you been waiting patiently for the new season of The Great British Bake Off to start? Or wish you could meet some great chefs? Then this event will be right up your street. Almost literally.

The East Midlands Food Festival will be returning to Melton Mowbray Market for its 14th year on October 7 and 8.

The event will showcase some of the UK’s best locally-produced food and drink from about 200 exhibitors and will count with live demonstrations from professional chefs such as Rachel Green and Jo Pratt in the Food Theatre.

Expert butchers will be showing adults how to carve and cook the best joints of meat while the little ones can try the new and enlarged Kids Food Zone.

Street food with hot dishes from around the world will be served and the festival will also have a gospel choir and ukulele band.

Matthew O’Callaghan, organiser of the East Midlands Food Festival said: “The Festival goes from strength to strength and we’re looking to increase the number and diversity of our food and drink exhibitors this year so that there will be something to meet all tastes, literally!”

Tickets are priced at £6 (£5 in advance). Children under 16 enter free. Advance tickets are on sale from the Visit Leicester centre in Leicester and Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton Mowbray, or online from www.meltonmowbrayfoodfestival.co.uk
