MARTIN Ireland took the honours in Sunday’s Brookfield Open fished on their Stoke Golding water.

Drawn on peg 16, Martin pole fished pellet to catch carp and bream for a winning 43lb 15oz catch. Ian Shirley finished second with a 34lb 10oz catch with Liam Hart taking third place with a 15lb 14oz catch.

Saturday’s Lychgate Fisheries Open match was won by John Varley who used traditiona­l pellet feeder tactics on peg 43 to catch 41lb 10ozs of carp. Colin Chapman came second from peg 15 with a 38lb 11oz catch. Andy Findley was third with a 36lb 4oz catch while Terry Brindley finished fourth with a 22lb 7oz catch.

Hinckley’s “Baggin Machine” Max Higgott has been at it again! After finishing second in last week’s Meadowland­s Open match with a mere 251lb catch on bomb and pellet tactics, Max swapped to pole fished meat this week to catch a winning 187lb 12oz catch of carp to 15lbs.

Just 1oz separated the top two in Maynes Lakes Wednesday Open match. Leading the way was Alby Beehl who pole fished sweet corn to land 30lb 14ozs, winning by the narrowest margin from Jonathan Harvey. Results; Pool 1 Section 1; Alby Beehl peg 28. Section Two; Karl Downing peg 34, 26lb 13ozs. Pool Three, Section Three; Jonathan Harvey peg 43, 30lb 13ozs. This match was also the final round in the Arthur Clarke Remembranc­e Series. Fished on the first Wednesday of the month over six months, each angler’s top four catches from the six are added up to produce the winner. For the second year running Jonathan Harvey won the series with a four match total of 145lb 1oz. Darryl Moore finished second with 134lb 10ozs with Bob Woodley third with a 115lb 9oz total.

The Ashby Canal was at it’s hardest for the fifth round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series. Fished along the Green Lane section near Snarestone, match winner Ian Stone needed just one fish, a 1lb 6oz tench, to win. John Gamble, Kev Milne and Graham White shared second place all weighing 4 1/2ozs of mainly small fish!

There were two catches over 100lbs as the top four anglers all weighed over 80lbs in Lychgate Fisheries Sunday Open contest. Leading the way, yet again, was Andy Findley who weighed 127lb 4ozs from peg 32. Steve Brindley weighed 120lb 8ozs from peg 15 to take second place. John Harvey came third with a 94lb 14oz catch with Paul Morris finishing fourth with a 83lb 10oz catch.

Steady Eddie Sharrad took the honours in Higham Lane’s Thursday Open for the second week running. Drawn on peg 3, Eddie fished his favourite method feeder tactic to catch 58lb 7ozs. Dave Hurlston came second with 48lb 11ozs while Andy Stewart came third with a 45lb 9oz catch.

Measham’s Open Pairs contest was fished on the Globe and Green Lane lengths of the canal at Snarestone. Top catch on the day was made by Hubert Noar with a 5lb catch of bream. Kev Milne also caught bream to finish second with 2lb 15ozs. Roger Pickering weighed 1lb 10oz of roach for third place. Winning the Pairs were Kev Milne and Pete Billington with a four-point total. Hubert Noar and Jock Nicolson finished second with a six-point total.

Higham Lane Fishery have open matches this Thursday and also on Saturday. Draw 9am for both.

The Pete Hogg Memorial series continues this Saturday with the sixth round fished on Shackersto­ne waters. Draw 1pm at the Rising Sun.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches/ Lychomania Qualifiers on Saturday, draw 9am and on Sunday, draw 12.30pm.

Brookfield have an Open match this Sunday at Stoke Golding, draw 9am.

Shackersto­ne hold their Arthur Clarke Memorial Open match this Sunday, draw 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Maynes Lakes have an open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.

Lychgate Fisheries have a Open /Lychomania match on Wednesday, draw 9am.
