Supporter honoured by Barwell

BARWELL FC have named their main stand at Kirby Road The Holt Stand.

The move was made in honour of supporter and friend of the club Colin Holt who recently made a donation to help fund the signing of powerful striker Kyle Perry from Stafford Rangers.

The newly-named Holt Stand was unveiled last week as the team gathered for the 2017/18 official team photograph at Kirby Road.

A statement on the club’s wesite said: “The Holt family have a longrunnin­g connection with Barwell Football Club, and this gesture means a lot to the club, but most importantl­y to the Holt family.

“The club are delighted that we have been able to show our gratitude to Colin and his family with this gesture.”

Barwell have been drawn away to Oadby Town in the first round of their defence of the Leicesters­hire and Rutland FA Challenge Cup.

The Canaries beat Coalville Town 3-1 in the final of last year’s competiton at the King Power stadium.

Luke Barlone, Owen Story and Ryan Baldwin all found the net to bring the trophy back to Barwell in May.

The date for the opening match of Barwell’s defence against Oadby is yet to be confirmed.

Jimmy Ginelli’s men have faced a mixed start to the season losing to AFC Telford in the FA Cup 2-0 on Saturday.
