Market Bosworth take control in one-sided match

-

THE last time Market Bosworth encountered a team from the Coventry area was before the leagues came in sometime during the mid 1980s.

One of Bosworth’s regular fixtures then was against Pinley and so 30 years on the fixture was renewed last Saturday.

The reunion was a sweet one for Bosworth who, having had a week off and fielding a weakened side, com- pared to the one who beat Olney two weeks ago, overwhelmed the opposition by putting 60 points against them with only seven in reply.

Pinley only managed to get their hands on the ball in the Market Bosworth half of the field on four or five occasions and it was on one of those occasions that they managed to trundle over for a converted try.

Bosworth won the majority of line- outs and scrums but were not heavy enough to push them about.

Harry Milner, Harry Parkes and Lewis Brightmore all continued to show good form by running in a couple of tries each out of the ten scored and the ever reliable Joe Randon converting five of them.

The match was a very one-sided affair, but fair play to Pinley they stuck at it to the final whistle.

Perhaps the difference in the two sides was fitness as Pinley lost a couple of players to injuries, whereas the Bosworth XV’s strength helped them to survive without having to use any substitutes.

Final score: Pinley 7 - 60 Market Bosworth.

This Saturday Market Bosworth are at home to Stewart and Lloyds from Corby with a 3pm kick off.
