Gymnast makes national team

GYMNASTS from Hinckley and Burbage Gymnastics club took part in the East Midlands Regional Championsh­ips 2017.

The competitio­n was to find the top all around and individual apparatus gymnasts from across the East Midlands at each level and age group.

Gymnasts from many clubs across the region took part in the competitio­n which was hailed a great event by coaches.

Mia Hancox, Ellie Grassby, Natasha Higgins, Molly Carey, and Emily Quinn, all represente­d Hinckley and Burbage.

The results of the competitio­n were as follows: Level four, age nine: Mia Hancox third all around, secpnd on vault and bars. third on floor. Level three, ages 11-12: Ellie Grassby third all around, second on floor;

Natasha Higgins 22nd all around. Level two, Age 14-plus: Emily Quinn fourth all around, second on vault, third on beam;

Molly Carey fifth all around.

Coaches at the club said: “Congratula­tions to all the gymnasts who competed, it was a fantastic day for the club and for the girls themselves.

“Special well done goes to Mia Hancox who came 3rd securing her a place at the National finals in November at Guildford.

“She will be one of four gymnasts representi­ng the East Midlands team at this National event.

“Many thanks to all at the club who have helped to make this possible. ”
