Car left in middle of field

-

A FARMER is unable to plough his fields after a car was mysteriously dumped in the middle of his field in Wolvey.

Robert Tilford wants the owner of a silver Ford Mondeo to come back and claim their car after it was found there on Sunday morning.

The vehicle appeared in a field at Shelford Cottage Farm, off Lutterworth Road.

A passing motorist, who did not want to be named, went to investigate after spotting the car on his way to work.

He said: “The car is in the middle of a farmer’s field off the B4114 Lutterworth Road, near Wolvey, next to the M69 motorway.

“I was heading towards the motorway and when I was going over the bridge I saw a car in the middle of a field.

“It wasn’t on the edge of a field, or anywhere close, it’s a huge field and the car was bang in the middle of it, that’s why I did a double take.”

He added: “I stopped and spoke to the farm worker who said they couldn’t plough the rest of the field because the car is in the way and they dared not risk moving it in case it is damaged.”

Mr Tilford said: “The police have been informed and came to have a look. It hasn’t been reported as stolen so we’re just waiting for the owner to show up.

“It’s a bit of a mystery how it got there but I think they’d drove down the track and thought they could spin back around but then realised the field was too muddy and they got stuck.

“We’ll have to wait and see. Fortunately, we’ve got plenty of other things to be getting on with in the meantime.”
