Four friends take on Machu Picchu

-

A TEAM of friends have travelled to Peru to complete the world famous trek to Machu Picchu in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

The group of four include Rebecca Griffin, a financial risk manager from Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.

Joined by pals, Yvonne Laird, Jennifer Ellis and Caroline Andrews, Rebecca left the UK on Friday September 29 for the challenge which will take them high up in the mountains to some of the most spectacular Inca ruins in South America.

The quartet have set up a justgiving page under the title Musical Cocktail Ladies.

They say: “You will normally find us with a cocktail or two in hand at a musical or afternoon tea - hence the name. However, in September 2017 we are taking on Machu Picchu.

“We are all paying for the trek ourselves so your sponsorship goes direct to the British Heart Foundation.

“The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It’s only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.

“We remember Caroline’s cousin Carl, who lost his life at too young an age to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hope to raise thousands in his memory.”

The four will return on October 8. Anyone who would like to help support their venture should visit their justgiving page.
