Volunteer search for youth body
HELPING youngsters provide a voice within police affairs is part of the challenge for three new volunteers being recruited by the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Lord Willy Bach.
Candidates should have good communication and IT skills and ideally experience of working with young people.
Responsibilities will include engaging with youth commission members, organising team meetings and assist in attracting new members.
The Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner’s role is to be the champion of the people and hold the police to account.
Aims are to cut crime and deliver an effective and efficient police service within the county. Ensuring young people can air their opinions is seen as vital in delivering these objectives hence the creation of the youth commission.
This enables young people aged 14 to 25 to help offer insight as well as guide practice.
The three new volunteers, once in place, will report to the volunteer manager and arrange and participate at local events and youth commission team meetings.
A full induction and ongoing training is promised with flexible hours available and subject to local agreement.
