Borough’s sporting heroes will be honoured
UNSUNG heroes who go that extra mile to support sporting activity will be celebrated thanks to an annual awards competition.
Nominations are being requested as part of the Hinckley and Bosworth Sport and Health Alliance (HBSHA) 2017 contest.
Now in its 11th year the venture seeks to reward ordinary people who have excelled within their sport of choice, have helped others to achieve, or has turned their life around for the better through sporting activity.
Categories feature gongs for coaches, clubs, disabled athletes, volunteers, juniors and schoolchildren and unsung heroes. New for this year is an ‘active business’ award.
Executive member for culture, sport and leisure at the borough council, Councillor Maureen Cook said: “Having seen at firsthand some of the young people representing our borough during the last year, I am more than aware of the commitment, enthusiasm and camaraderie which benefits our community from coaches, organisers, participants and voluntary organisations. I am delighted to support the Awards and I urge you to nominate your hero before October 30.”
Nomination forms are available online at http://www.hbsha.org. uk/sports-award. Nominations will close at noon on Monday October 30. The awards evening will be held on November 15. For information contact Graeme Chilvers on Hinckley 255678.
