League table starting to take shape for table tennis teams

G WARD D continue to set the pace in Division Two of the Table Tennis league.

Their recent match versus Cat G saw the Barwell side run out winners by eight sets to two.

Inspired by a Roger Hill maximum, teammates Ollie Wynne and Callum Dale collected two win apiece and the doubles to secure the 8-2 win.

Dael Sidwell took two wins for CAT G but was pushed close by Wynne in a five set game just emerging victorious 11-8 in the fifth.

In their next match away at Cat D, Hill was again in form winning three with the Wynne brothers Matt and Ollie taking two sets each and the doubles. Steve Crutchley putting in a fine performanc­e, winning two for Cat D.

Hit’n’Hope are giving G Ward D a run for their money, taking a comfortabl­e win against Mkt Bosworth 2 by 10 sets to nil.

Bryan Moylan (H’n’H) was man of the match with three wins.

Leanna Bancroft (Mkt Bos 2) went close to winning her first set against Malcolm Seal; she won her first two games 11-7 and 14-12 before losing the next three 8-11, 7-11 and 7-11.

Hit’n’Hope retuned to Mkt Bosworth for their next match against Mkt Bos1 collecting another whitewash win by 10 sets to nil to further their challenge for top spot.

Market Bosworth 1 fared better in their next match collecting three points courtesy of a John Veasey maximum, finally losing three sets to seven to Cat H.

Queen’s Barwell overcame Cat F by eight sets to two.

Steve Lawton (Queens) winning his three. Phil Wood took a brace for Cat F.

Cat E did little better in their match with G Ward C losing 2-8.
