New ladies fly­ing high in their first ever league cam­paign

HINCK­LEY Ladies Foot­ball Club is a newly formed team for over 16s.

From a few ladies hav­ing a dream in 2016, they are now a squad of over 20 play­ers.

There is a fan­tas­tic and pos­i­tive at­ti­tude which has re­sulted in a close knit, pas­sion­ate team, work­ing hard to suc­ceed.

They train ev­ery Thurs­day evening and have played a num­ber of friendlies through­out the closed sea­son.

Their per­ma­nent home ground is Ashby Road So­cial Club where they have had a fan­tas­tic wel­come.

The team has now se­cured FA sta­tus and are play­ing their first sea­son in the Le­ices­ter­shire and Rut­land Ladies League.

Af­ter four games, they are cur­rently sit­ting in 4th po­si­tion in the league fol­low­ing a fan­tas­tic start to the sea­son.

This Sun­day saw them take on Cosby Ladies. Af­ter a slow start, HLFC found them­selves 3 nil down at half time. Fol­low­ing a half time talk from coach Adam Ward, the ladies pushed hard and came back with two goals from Mish Keat- man.

Laura Neave, as cap­tain, and op­po­si­tion’s player of the match for the fourth con­sec­u­tive game, lead the ladies through a hard fought sec­ond half. A tough game re­sult­ing in a 2-3 fi­nal score. The team showed some ex­cel­lent skills and prov­ing their worth as a new team in the league.

Next week sees them play their first cup game away to Kingsway Ladies. This will be the team’s first step to­wards silverware.
