New ladies flying high in their first ever league campaign

-

HINCKLEY Ladies Football Club is a newly formed team for over 16s.

From a few ladies having a dream in 2016, they are now a squad of over 20 players.

There is a fantastic and positive attitude which has resulted in a close knit, passionate team, working hard to succeed.

They train every Thursday evening and have played a number of friendlies throughout the closed season.

Their permanent home ground is Ashby Road Social Club where they have had a fantastic welcome.

The team has now secured FA status and are playing their first season in the Leicestershire and Rutland Ladies League.

After four games, they are currently sitting in 4th position in the league following a fantastic start to the season.

This Sunday saw them take on Cosby Ladies. After a slow start, HLFC found themselves 3 nil down at half time. Following a half time talk from coach Adam Ward, the ladies pushed hard and came back with two goals from Mish Keat- man.

Laura Neave, as captain, and opposition’s player of the match for the fourth consecutive game, lead the ladies through a hard fought second half. A tough game resulting in a 2-3 final score. The team showed some excellent skills and proving their worth as a new team in the league.

Next week sees them play their first cup game away to Kingsway Ladies. This will be the team’s first step towards silverware.
