Wolf Run challenge boosts cancer charity
FIVE women from the mortgage department at Hinckley and Rugby Building Society took on the fearsome Wolf Run challenge to raise money for a charity founded by their colleague, Sally Chapman.
The team tackled the 10km run through mud and obstacles to raise money for Pink Pants Trust, which Sally set up from her hospital bed after a preventative double mastectomy.
Sally had the operation because she found out she carried the BRCA2 gene fault which drastically increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Pink Pants was established to raise awareness of the gene fault and to help pay for women to have the test.
Sally’s colleagues - Diane Stokes, Michelle Tong, Sarah Johnson, Angela Price and Michelle Higginson - ran, climbed, jumped, waded, crawled and swam through the course, designed to test your mental and physical strength, skill and stamina.
Hinckley and Rugby sponsored each of the five for £50 each and staff across the society also backed the women, raising a total of £670.
Sally, a temporary business development officer at the building society, said: “I am truly grateful for the support and money raised for Pink Pants Trust. We at Pink Pants appreciate all their support.
“The money will privately pay for women in Leicestershire who do not meet the NHS criteria for BRCA1 and 2 testing. The cost is currently £1,000 per person and we are well on our way to being able to test 10 women within the next 12 months.”
