Police investigate nightclub assault
A MAN was placed in a coma by medics after a suspected assault on Regent Street in Hinckley.
The 29-year-old was found with a broken nose in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is believed he was hurt in a nightclub fight however police would not confirm the location of the suspected incident.
Emergency services were called at around 12.50am on Sunday when police, paramedics and the air ambulance all attended the scene.
The patient was eventually taken by land ambulance to Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry, where he was placed in an induced coma.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “A man has been left with a broken nose following an incident in Regent Street, Hinckley, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“He’s believed to been in a fight.
“Officers were called to the scene at 00.50am to a report of an injured man.
“The 29-year-old victim was taken to hospital, where he remains.
“He has been put in an induced coma, however, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
“At this time, no arrests have been made.”
A spokeswoman for East Midlands Ambulance Ser- have vice said: “We received a call at 12.41am on October 15 to an incident in Regent Street, Hinckley.
“We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car, a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance and one patient was taken to Coventry and Walsgrave General Hospital by land ambulance.”
A witness, who asked not to be named, said they saw the victim being stamped on and described seeing ‘lots of blood’.
