Vera dances way to 105

-

A HINCKLEY care home resident celebrated her 105th birthday in style with lots of love, laughter and dancing.

Vera Adams, a resident at Hinckley House, enjoyed a “magical” day for her birthday, and was even treated to a special visit from Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Cllr Ozzy O’Shea, and Mayoress Jenny O’Shea.

Vera has loved dancing from an early age and was sent to a dance school by her parents, so it was no surprise that she danced her birthday afternoon away with two of her favourite performers, Glyn Morley and Rob Wilson.

Glyn sai that he had: “A wonderful afternoon celebrating Vera’s birthday with Rob.

“We both feel very honoured to sing for this lovely lady.”

Paul Botham, home manager at Hinckley House, has a great friendship with Vera.

He said: “Vera is a very independent and vivacious lady, a lover of life.

“She is an inspiration to us all.”

At the end of her special day, Vera said: “My birthday was lovely and I really enjoyed the entertainment and receiving my card from the Queen.”

She also revealed that her secret to a long and happy life is cups of tea, adding that she also put her health down to “fish and chips”.

Vera lives a happy life at Hinckley House Care Home, often going out for meals with friends and enjoying the varied, daily activities programme in the care home.
