The Sunday League

-

SPORTING Dynamo entertained Penn Tandoori Sunday in the FA National Sunday Cup and went behind to an early goal from their opponents.

Despite a hard-working performance the second half proved difficult for Dynamo with only one shot on goal and a close range header after seventy minutes gave Penn a 2-0 win. Keeper Callum Weeks ensured Dynamo were always in the game with a number of fine saves including a penalty stop.

In the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division, leaders FC Topps travelled to new boys Plough Inn and came away with the points from a 3-0 win.

Adam McNally gave them the lead from the spot in the first half after a clumsy challenge in the box and his header was deflected past the Plough keeper after the break to double their lead.

Substitute Scott Smith calmly added the third before the end in a game well officiated by Matt Smith despite some bruising challenges and theatrics from the players.

Rogue Elite travelled to Sparta Moshdock in the Sunday Premier Cup and went down 3-1 despite having more of the game. Chances went begging and only a goal from Lewis Hopewell after the break provided consolation.

Ullesthorpe continued their good start in the PWS Leicester Division 1 knocking seven past Anchor Inn without reply. Chris Musson led the way with a brace with further goals coming from Alex Broadbent, James Lienau, Max Proudlock, Ross Weston and Taylor Lucas. Wykin are on their heels and they travelled to Topps Reserves and came away with a 4-0 win courtesy of strikes from Lloyd Henry (2), Ryan Forryan and Chris Booton after leading by the odd goal at the break.

Athletico Duke have also started well and they travelled to Coalville Miners and took the points from a 4-1 win. Goals for Duke coming from Connor Pugh (2), Kelvin Etheridge and Ben Wright.

Stoneycroft United welcomed unbeaten Shilton United for a highly anticipated game in the Printing Works Division Two.

Both teams started strongly with chances at both ends but it was Shilton who opened the scoring when Matt Brown scored a lovely goal, cutting in from the left wing and lobbing the keeper from the corner of the box.

Shilton continued to make chances with a shot coming back off a post and no-one connecting with a drive across the six yard box. A foul gave them a further opportunity and Ben Harding put the ball over the wall and past the keeper into the top corner from just outside the box.

In the second half, a Josh Weaving driven pass to Ben Harding allowed him to turn his player and place the ball past the keeper to make it three.

Stoneycroft continued to make chances but Harding completed his hat-trick when he converted Rob Hodgson’s through ball to complete the scoring and give Shilton a 4-0 win in a strong team performance and with a solid defence thwarting Stoneycroft’s efforts.

TC Building top the division and they continued in winning ways with a 3-0 win over Red Lion. Corey Simmons, Andrew Lewin and Ashleigh Clarke scoring their goals. AFC Barn won their first league game with goals from Steve Billings and Damien Haswell giving them a 2-1 over The Gravity who remain pointless.

Stoke Golding lost their first game going down at home 2-1 against Thurlaston Magpies despite a goal from Carl Chadwick.
