Leicester Road mark Centurians
HINCKLEY’S Leicester Road FC are celebrating five players reaching over 100 appearances for the club – a rare feat at this level and especially step 6 of the non-league football pyramid.
Jake Holt, aged 24, is that rare breed of both silky skilled and hard tackling midfielder, who also has an eye for goal.
Of all the current squad he has the most goals and appearances - 41 of them in 125 matches for LRFC to date.
Goalkeeper Will Highland, 21, is an excellent shot stopper, who commands his area.
In his 120 appearances has saved the Road some dropped points on many an occasion.
Joseph Lyne, 21, is a boxto-box midfielder who always gives 100%, plus he has an enviable array of fine passing and movement. He has netted 23 goals in 119 appearances.
Skipper Greg Downes, 24, is LRFC’s Mr Consistency with a great engine and always leads by example.
He also leads the way in goals scored so far this season and in total has 28 in 106 appearances.
Tough and uncompromising central defender Josh Smith, 22, is also a great header of the ball and his 105 appearances (four goals) have added solidity to the LRFC rear guard.
LRFC Head of Football, Neil Lyne, says: “It’s no coincidence that they’re all hard working and diligent footballers, who are a credit to both the football club and themselves on and off the pitch.
“They’re all still young men too, so they have many years ahead of them to strive to better themselves – and I for one obviously hope that this will be achieved here with Leicester Road Football Club.”
