IN HINCKLEY Table Tennis League Division 1 Cat A showed no mercy to their own B team taking all ten sets. Alex Mason (Cat A) picking up a worthy maximum.

Cat B fared a little better in their next fixture losing 3 -7 to Cat C.

This match was a much closer affair however with no fewer than five sets going to either four or five games.

Andy Spring was in vintage form for Cat C with a maximum.

Cat C collected another good win when they beat their own D team by nine sets to one. Spring again winning all three.

Barlestone A overcame Barlestone B by seven sets to three with Adam Pettitt on song winning three for the A team , whilst Jon Jacom took two for Barlestone B.

Goons continue their winning ways by taking all 10 sets from Queen’s Mira to stay top of the table.

They did not have things all their own way when they met Barlestone A, who were much more competitiv­e.

The final score was eight sets to two to Goons. Lucky Obi winning his three for Goons but Adam Pettitt (BA) took Jason Woodfield’s 100% record with a fine win.

G Ward A defeated their own B team by eight sets to two. Jason Essex (GWA) winning his three and Clive Stretton (GWB) collected two wins for the away team.

In their next match GWA overcame Barlestone B by 10 sets to nil to move up the table. Essex (GWA) with another fine maximum.

GWB came back from their defeat to GWA by overcoming Cat D by eight sets to two.

There was a great performanc­e from Bob Whitaker making a return from injury to win his three for GWB.

GW E continue to struggle at this level going down 10 sets to nil to Queen’s Mira. Ian Heavey (QM) being the man of the match.

The league table currently sees Goons top with 45 points, GWA second also on 45 points but having played one match more than Goons, third are Cat A on 42 points and 4th are Barlestone A on 40 points.

Preliminar­y Round Cup Draws in the Holt Trophy sees Cat C at home to GWB, Barlestone B at home to GWA and Car D at home to GWE.

In the Dry-Logic cup Cat G at home to Cat F, Market Bosworth 1 at home to GWF and Cat E at home to Market Bosworth 2

All these games to be played during week commencing November 6.
