HINCKLEY’S Meatcure is shutting up shop.

Theshocknewswasannounced on the independent burger company’s Facebook page.

It comes just two weeks after the owners said they were closing the Leicester and Bedford branches while insisting they would retain their presence in Hinckley and Market Harborough.

Improvements to The Crescent eaterie were promised with a “refocus on great service and exceptional food quality” as well as “alterations” and “additions”.

But this week a Facebook post called time on these efforts with bosses Rob and Yaga admitting defeat after just six months in operation. No definitive date of closure was mentioned.

The post read: “It was never meant to happen! We were always intending on keeping Hinckley along with Market Harborough. It’s a great space but more importantly our team was amazing. However we have been unable to negotiate terms, in fact we haven’t been able to negotiate at all with the landlords!

“Without having clarity we had to call it in fear of problems down the line. There’s no animosity, we get it, we’re just small fish!”

Assuring customers the Market Harborough business will continue, Meatcure chiefs reinforced their commitment saying they “will be making huge changes for the better”.

Involvement in organised events and pop-ups are planned and thanks to the “downscaling” ideas around new dishes, a grill section and perhaps a smoker are being touted.

The Tin Hat Regeneration Partnership recently sold Blocks A and B of The Crescent. A private investment firm based in Greater Manchester is now the owner of a major section of The Crescent.

Telelink Estates purchased the two sections in a deal worth £10 million. Specialist retail investment agency Coady Supple brokered the sale of the retail, leisure and supermarket parade.

According to company records Telelink Estates has two directors Rosa and Salomon Lasry.

Before selling up on the main shopping centre Tin Hat had already offloaded the Sainsbury’s store to a Spanish firm.

Block C of the mall, which includes the cinema and bars and restaurants, is owned by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, having purchased it for more than £2 million.
