Camera Club show a flash of inspiration

-

PHOTOGRAPHERS were inspired at an exhibition by Earl Shilton Camera Club.

The club’s annual show, held in Hinckley’s Atkins building featured around 100 images produced by members, plus a display of photographic equipment through the ages and a pop-up studio with a professional model for visitors to have a go at producing a photographic portrait of their own.

Exhibition-goers were also encouraged to vote for their favourite image on display.

The winning piece, entitled 120 mph in One Eighth of a Second, was a photograph by Steve Bexon of a Virgin Pendolino train passing through Trent Valley Station in Nuneaton at 120 mph, taken at a slow shutter speed.

The exhibition was used as an alternative venue for the club’s weekly meeting, which is usually held in Earl Shilton Constitutional Club.

Guests included Earl Shilton town councillor Martin Leman, representing the local authority which sponsored the exhibition, and members of other camera clubs.

A group of 90 pupils from St Mary’s CE Primary School in Hinckley was also welcomed on a day trip to the show and given worksheets with questions to answer about some of the images exhibited.

Youngsters were particularly interested in some of the older cameras on display.

Club spokesman John Langham said: “Visitors enjoyed talking to members about the club and its activities and the promotion was successful in attracting new members.”
