Bowling club presents cheque

-

A NURSERY in Burbage was delighted to receive a cheque from Burbage Crusaders Bowling Club.

The club donated £750 to Sketchley Hill Menphys Nursery School, in Sketchley Road, its charity for the year.

Adrian Bennett, president of the Crusaders, handed over the cheque to Beverley Brown, from the school.

He was taken on a tour of the school, and had the honour of meeting some of the pupils.

The school provides teaching and suport for children with a range of special needs, aged from two to five.

Mr Bennett was impressed by the staff’s dedication and the happy and engaged children, despite their disabilities.

His guide was Alison, a teacher at the nursery, who pointed out that the school relies on donations and fundraisers such as its Spring Fair, in addition to public funds.

Burbage Crusaders raised £550 at this year’s Charity Day, its main fundraiser.

Menphys school has been its charity of the year for the past few seasons.

The mixed-sex club’s season runs from April to September, and it plays in the Hinckley and District Triples League, though most games are friendlies.

Players of any experience are welcome to join, by contacting Adrian Bennett on Hinckley 610004 or by email at a-bennett@talktalk.net.

More information is available on the Burbage Crusaders Bowling Club website.
