STUDENT woodwind trio Inventus Reeds will be taking to the stage for a lunchtime recital in Hinckley on November 1.

Zulhafeez Zainuri (clarinet), Tommy Hill (oboe) and Mark Wilson (bassoon) all third year students at Birmingham Conservatoire will be performing a musical Journey Through Time at St Mary’s Church in the town from 1pm.

Hosted by St Mary’s Arts (Smarts) the concert will feature music through the ages, from classical to romantic and modern, by composers including Mozart, Beethoven, Ibert and Schulhoff.

Three of a performing quintet formed in 2015, the trio is keen to bring chamber music to as many people as possible, offering school sessions and music workshops for all ages.

Singapore-born Zulhafeez Zainuri served in the Singapore Armed Forces Band after graduating frm the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and has performed in military tattoos in Basel, Switzerland, and Edinburgh as well as with the Conservatoire’s orchestras, wind ensembles and various chamber groups.

Tommy Hill enjoys playing in the Birmingham Conservatoire Folk Ensemble as an aside to his orchestral work with the likes of the Hull Invitatione Orchestra, Hull Bach Choir, Hull Choral Union and the CBSO Youth Orchestra, as well as formerly the City of Hull Youth Symphony Orchestra and Yorkshire Young Sinfonia.

Post Grade 8 performer in bassoon, piano, organ and voice, Mark Wilson studied with Julie Price of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and last year performed in a BBC Radio 3 concert of Verdi’s Requiem.

A counter tenor with Worcester Cathedral choir, and regular singer with other cathedral choirs, he enjoys exploring early musical instruments, including the dulcian, crumhorn and other early reeds.

The recital will last for around 45 minutes, to allow people to attend in a lunch break.

Concert-goers are welcome to take along a packed lunch to eat before or after the performance and to use the church coffee bar for hot drinks and snacks.

Admisssion is £4 for adults and £1 for children and students, on the door.
