Findley’s magic powder ensures three more wins!

-

ANDY Findley’s winning run continued with another three wins in local matches last week. There seems to be no way to stop “The Fin” with fellow competitors now convinced that he is using a secret magic powder that he sprinkles onto his bait which makes him catch more fish!

His first win came in Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday Open where he landed 86lb 4oz to finish well clear of second placed Paul Bates who weighed 58lb 6ozs while Ian Shirley came third with a 48lb 8oz catch.

On Thursday he won Higham Lane’s contest weighing 69lb 11ozs from peg 17, most of his fish caught on the pole. John Varley weighed 36lb 10ozs to take second place with Dave Massey in third place with 34lb 5ozs. Saturday’s Higham Lane contest was almost a failure for Andy. Drawn on peg 7 he went two hours with out a bite, but a change to the pole and a quick sprinkle of the powder saw him start to catch and he finished with 62lb 7ozs for another win. Dominic Lanni weighed 52lb 11ozs to finish second with Mick Linnett weighing 50lb 3ozs to take third place.

Terry Brindley qualified for the Lychomania final after winning Saturday’s wind lashed Lychgate Fisheries Open match. Drawn on peg 55 Terry landed 31lb 2ozs to take the honours. Just one pound separated the next three places, Bruce Robinson claimed second place with 22lb 12ozs, Guy Hope weighed 21lb 14ozs for third while Steve Zseili finished fourth with21lb 12ozs.

Measham’s Challenge Cup contest was fished on the Coventry Canal at Alvercote. Andy Smith landed three big perch a decent bream and some roach to win with a 7lb total. Ian Plant weighed 3lb 5ozs of roach to take second place with Doug Dimbleby finishing third with another all roach catch weighing 2lb 9ozs.

Jonathan Harvey caught from the start to win Maynes Lake’s Mid week Open. Using pole method tactics Jonathan weighed 27lb 4ozs to finish well clear. Section Three, Pool Two; Jonathan Harvey peg 1. section Four; Alan Wilson, 17lb 9ozs peg 15.

Plough A/S and guests fished their latest match on a very windy Horseshoe Lake at Jubilee Pools. The poor conditions made sport very difficult with Tony Monaghan needing just 10lb 13ozs to win. The legendary Jim Shooter made a rare appearance in the top three, finishing second with a 7lb 14oz catch. Ian Jordon came third with 6lb 2ozs.
