Stamper crowned British champion
AFTER a fantastic season of racing, 23-yearold Barwell youngster Dan Stamper finally secured the Pirelli Superstock 600 championship at Brands Hatch.
As a support series to the British Superbikes, Dan has led the Superstock 600 championship since the opening race.
With two wins and two seconds in the opening four rounds, Dan has simply had to finish consistently in the points for the remaining eight rounds to secure the British title.
Onboard his self-built Yamaha R6, Dan cruised to a 40-point lead this weekend, finishing the season with a fifth place in Sunday’s race, less than a second off the win.
To celebrate his success, the team also entered the elite 600 race – the British Supersport.
Considering it was his first appearance in the class on a less than competitive bike, Dan managed to finish 12th.
Although racing against professional racers and factory supported teams, next year’s racing looks promising.
Following the weekend, Dan said: “It really has been a dream season for me.
“I have had some reasonable success in the past, but nothing compares to this.
“Since organisations like Moran Logistics got behind me at the start of 2017, I have felt a different rider, full of confidence as if people believed in me.
“Now I just have that task of raising a budget for next year – I think I can go on and get some brilliant results in the British Supersport, it’s just a case of finding companies to support me.
“Thank you to everyone that has helped me get this far, it really means the world to me”.
