Thrill seekers in for fair treat
ABSEILERS will be jumping down the clock tower of St Mary’s Church in Hinckley.
The church’s annual charity fair includes 40 brave people taking on the abseil, down the 100ft tower.
More than 20 charity stalls will also be open inside the church, raising funds for ongoing repairs to the church as well as for the charities represented.
Crafts, jewellery and other goods will be on offer, with drinks and cakes at the church’s coffee bar.
The charities include Christopher’s Fund, Cancer Research, Air Ambulance and Macmillan Nurses.
Residents and visitors are invited to see the abseilers in action and the fair.
The Reverend John Whittaker, vicar of St Mary’s, said: “We encourage everyone to come along, it is going to be a great family fun day out.
“We’ll have jaw-dropping entertainment from the abseilers soaring down the church tower and inside there will be the annual charity fair, where local charities will be selling their wares, all for good causes.”
Lisa Mohar, associate solicitor Bray and Bray, in Station Road, among the abseilers.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be taking part in the local community’s effort to support all of the charities.
“To say that I’m nervous about the abseil is an understatement but it will certainly be worth the challenge to raise money for the fantastic local causes this event supports.”
Lisa has a fundraising target of £400, with the amount being shared between the church and other charities.
Bray and Bray donated £200 in sponsorship to back her cause.
You can donate to her abseil on her Just Giving page.
The event is running on Saturday November 4, from 10am to 4pm. at is
