A BELOVED and award-winning cake maker from Hinckley is retiring after 26 years of delighting the borough with her spectacular bakes.

Trish Clarke, who also runs T C Cakes Goodies at the top of Castle Street, has shut up shop to focus on her health and prepare for shoulder replacement surgery.

Trish is an expert in artistic cake masterpieces, with her now-famous sleeping Dalmation cake going viral a few years ago.

She has also created many other fun novelty cakes, including a life-like lamb and Minions, and has won 23 awards for her bakes.

As well as this, Trish has been a proud judge at Cake Interna- tional for more than a decade, and has helped to teach people how to decorate their own cakes, too.

The shop closed on Saturday although Trish will be in and out of the place until November 13 for people to collect items.

She added: “After 26 years of making cakes, I am retiring because I need a total shoulder replacement - years of making cakes have worn it away!

“I have, in the past four years, run a cake shop called T C Cakes Goodie box at the top of Castle Street making cakes, Belgian chocolate truffles and gluten/ wheat-free from goodies. Before this, I was based at home.

“Over my 26 years, I have achieved many things - 23 awards, including Masterclass Winner, Best in Show -and have had the pleasure of been one of the judges at Cake International for over 11 years.

“Living in the area for over 20 years, I have had the pleasure of making many families’ cakes, growing up with them and their children, and have in the past always tried to support local charity events too.

“I will be sad to retire, as I have made many friends along the way, so would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone for their support over the years.

“There are lots of wonderful rising stars in the cake world these days, of which Hinckley has some very fine ones. Keep cakeing my lovelies!”

Trish will be keeping her hand in with sweet treats and is continuing to sell handmade Belgian chocolate truffles and fluffy cloud marshmallows and a dairy-free range of truffles too.
