Crime panel is recruiting
A CRIME panel that supports and challenges Leicestershire Police is looking for two new recruits.
Anyone with an interest in community safety, crime and the impact on victims is encouraged to apply for the roles, on the independent Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Police and Crime Panel.
The body is consulted on policing plans, council tax precept proposals and certain key appointments, including the chief constable.
The four-year roles involve attending around six meetings a year and has a yearly allowance of £1,000, and travel expenses can be claimed.
Councillor Joe Orson, chair of the panel, said: “These roles offer a unique opportunity to influence local policing and community safety work, and raise your views directly with the police and crimes commissioner.
“Independent members represent our residents so if you have a genuine interest in policing, I’d encourage you to find out more.”
Applications are invited from people over the age of 18 from all backgrounds and geographical areas of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The closing date for applications is November 20, with interviews being held on December 8.
