Planning application lodged for vacant unit

A NEW fried chicken shop looks set to be the latest outlet to open up at The Crescent in Hinckley.

A company called ‘Louisi-anna Chicken’ is behind a planning application to install plant equipment on the roof of unit 7, next to Costa.

Consultants In-Haus Solutions have drafted the submission which will be dealt with by borough planning committee councillors or by an officer using delegated powers.

The bid seeks permission to place extraction and ventilation equipment, external plant and air conditioning units on the top of the unit.

In-Haus describe the end use as a ‘restaurant’ and a mock-up plan shows the frontage with a large decorative name sign featuring the title Louisi-ANNA.

In other documents the company is referred to as Louisi-Anna Chicken.

Given the name and the nature of the food common in Louisiana in the United States the outlet may offer up spicy delights, Cajun and Creole inspired.

The submission states: “The roof plant deck measures approximately 3m in width and 12m in length, the plant equipment would be positioned within the confines of the plant deck situated upon the flat roof of the unit.

“The proposed external condensing units and air handling units and kitchen extractor fan system and are required to regulate temperature within the building and kitchen odour and extraction.

“The proposed external unit would be installed upon the roof of the restaurant and centrally located.

“The existing roof plane of the application extends beyond the front elevation and limits any views of the plant area situated upon the roof tops of these units.

“As such due to the positioning of the proposed plant equipment and the existing roof design they would not appear visually dominant within the street scene.”

The unit has a classification of either restaurant or retail usage and so no planning permission would be required before it opened - apart from this application for the plant units.
