Inside a ‘man cave’
You can have your say on what is the best man cave in competition
A “MAN CAVE” created by a Barwell bloke as a sports event hideaway is in the running to be named the 2017 Games Room of the Year.
The entry, complete with bar, dartboard and pool table, is the brainchild of John Bennett, director of a gas and central heating company.
John decided to build the room so he and his buddies had a convenient place to watch big sports matches within pub-style surroundings, without the hefty price tag of draught or bottled beer.
Immaculately designed in black and white it boasts its own pull taps to provide beverages of choice to John and his pals.
He is up against nine other man caves proposed by an internal judging team at competition organiser Home Leisure Direct.
Two other rooms have also made it into the final on a social media vote. Now all 12 will be open to public scrutiny with people asked to endorse their favourite before the closing date of Sunday November 5.
The winner will receive a £3,000 cash prize.
John’s rivals for the award include a Pink Panther Bar that incorporates a ‘pub garden’ football pitch, a graffiti covered homage to arcade gaming and a room with a West Ham/sci-fi/ music memorabilia themed twist, while Randall’s Tavern, a lovingly created pub stylegames room returns for its third attempt.
Andy Beresford, managing director of Home Leisure Direct, said: “This has been our best year yet for entries and we’ve really struggled with the shortlisting process. There really have been some outstanding efforts but we’ve managed to whittle it down to what we view as the best of the best and, as you can see, there’s an excellent selection on offer.”
Each of the finalists’ entries is available to view on the Home Leisure Direct website, where the public is able to vote for their favourite games room.
The voting page can be found via the Home Leisure Direct website. Share your favourite using the hashtag #GamesRoom2017.
