Sunday league round up

-

County Cup weekend saw Hinckley teams have a disappointing time.

Rogue Elite went down 2-0 at home to Sparta Moshdock, FC Topps lost by the only goal at Birstall Stamford and Enderby Social lost 9-2 at home to Finchys FC in the Greene King Sunday Premier Cup.

In the County Premier Shield, Hinckley teams fared much better with the Plough Inn getting their first win in the group stages with a 4-2 win over FC Poplar. Going into the break 2-0 down, Alex Barraclough reduced the lead from the spot just before the break and in the second half Plough deservedly took the win after Jack Sutherland had levelled things with 15 minutes to go. Man of the match Jordan Norton then made it 3-2 after a dazzling run and Lewis Chester wrapped things up for Plough after Poplar had been reduced to ten men. FC Bacc also had a convincing win seeing off FC Cherry Tree with an 11-2 win.

In the Sunday Intermediate Cup, Wykin won through after a thriller against fellow Hinckley side Ullesthorpe who took the lead in the first half when a cross from the left was deflected past the Wykin keeper Joe McKenna. Wykin soon levelled after Cam Morton curled a free kick into the top corner and Lee Lovett gave them the lead when he tapped a corner in at the far post. The game then saw both teams reduced to ten men before Ullesthorpe levelled when another shot was deflected by Cam Morton past McKenna in the Wykin goal. After Wykin had missed a penalty and with less than five minutes left on the clock it was Lovett again who ran at the Ullesthorpe defence and won the game with a shot into the bottom right to ensure an exciting last few minutes.

Athletico Duke are also in the hat for the next round after a 2-1 win at Syston AFC.

Stanton United OB won through in the Sunday Trophy after a 3-1 win over Coalville Miners. Lewis Alleston, Kyle Olner and Josh Leadbitter with the goals. Anchor Inn are out though after losing 2-1 at home to Thorpe Acre FC.

AFC Pubwatch Wanderers also won through after extra time at AFC Sxporting Charnwood. Oscar Webb led the way with five of the goals with Jack Joyce and Andy Courtney also on the score sheet. In the Sunday Vase Hinckley clubs had mixed fortunes. Stoke Golding won through after a 3-2 win at Syston FC Reserves. A couple from Danny Wilson and one from Callum York saw them through to the next round. Red Lion were involved in a fantastic game with Markfield Rangers OB. 1-0 down at the break they finished 4-4 at the end of 90 minutes and 6-6 after extra time only for Markfield to take the game 5-3 on penalties. Goals for Red Lion from Carr Craddock (3), Jonno Fields (2) and Kyle Freeburn. AFC Barn are also out after a narrow 4-3 defeat at Knighton Park Dynamo.

There was one league game in the Printing Works Division Two in which Stoneycroft United took the points from a 4-3 win over Stanton United OB Reserves. Stoneycroft went 2-0 up only for a depleted Stanton to fight back to 2-2 with goals from Mitch Smith and Pete Stanbridge. Stoneycroft then regained their two goal advantage with one of the goals coming from an own goal by Stanton’s Adrian Tapp before Darren Page scored Stanton’s third from the spot.
