Learners drive Pudsey in town

-

A CONVOY of learner drivers travelled from Hinckley to Coalville carrying a very special roof box as part of a nationwide relay to raise money for Children in Need.

The Big Learner Relay, now in its fourth year, included a stretch through the town starting from Hinckley marina where a roof box decorated with the charity’s Pudsey Bear mascot was fitted to the roof of a colurfully spotted learner car belonging to Grade A instructor Neil Wightman of Y2Learn.

Driven by learner driver Joshua Lunn it was one of a dozen driving school cars from across the borough which joined in the event, alongside relay organiser Lou Walsh who has seen the stunt generate more than £250,000 for the cause to date.

After a handing over the roof box in Coalville, the clutch of instructors and their pupils went on to the Pierlli Stadium in Burton for an end-of-leg gettogether.

This year’s relay started in Scotland, with the roof box being relayed by different driving school cars from county to county over 15 days ending at Knowsley Safari Park in Liverpool on national Children in Need day, November 17.
