Sunday teams face off in cup

-

HOLDERS Enderby Social faced a tough looking trip to First Division pace-setters Ullesthorpe in the JMS Engineers Senior Cup and after a close opening it was Enderby who made their way into the next round courtesy of a 7-1 win.

There was also a Premier v First Division local derby as Wykin entertained near neighbours Rogue Elite. Again it was the Premier Division club that took the honours. Scott Colclough provided the opening goal on a plate for Marley Henry after a good run down the right and it was Colclough to doubled the advantage soon after to give Rogue a 2-0 interval lead.

In the second half Wykin pressed looking for a way back into the game but despite a number of half chances they never really troubled Ricky Blewitt in the Rogue goal. Aaron Norman added to the scoreline mid way through the second half to give Rogue Elite a 3-0 win.

FC Bacc have still to register their first league points but they upset the form book with a 4-1 win at home to leaders FC Topps. Goals from Sean Doy, Sam Estill, Henry Piggin and Sam Towe ensured their place in the semifinal with Adam McNally scoring the Topps consolation. In the other game Sporting Dynamo overcame Athletico Duke 6-2 to ensure two all Premier Division Semi-Finals.

In the CS Construction Junior Cup, both Stanton United sides made it through to the Semi-Final. The first team won by the only goal at Shilton United but it was the Shilton keeper who managed to keep the score down as Stanton hit the bar three times in a performance boosted by the return of Jes Adcock.

The winning goal from Stanton came from Chris Crooks. Stanton Reserves are also through after a narrow 3-2 win at Anchor Inn after extra time. Ryan Goodband gave them the lead only for Anchor to equalise in the second half after upping their performance.

For Stanton, man of the match centre back Kyle Wilson was solid in front of keeper Alan Clarke who pulled off an impressive string of saves. In extra time Darren Page put Stanton back in front from a Goodband assist only for Anchor to level before Josh Atkinson volleyed home a screamer from 25 yards to put the Reserves into the Semi-Final.

Coalville Miners put their disappointing league form behind them with a 5-1 win at Holywell to book their place while the Semi-Final line up will be completed by TC Building who overcame AFC Barn 6-2. Daniel Toone led the way for TC with a hat-trick with their other goals coming from Andrew Lewin, Bleep Allred and an own goal.

Both the Barn goals came from Matthew Wright.

In the PWS Division One the game between FC Topps and AFC Pubwatch was abandoned after a serious injury to a Topps player. Best wishes from the league to the player concerned and AFC Topps.

FC Gravity won their first point of the season at home to Stoke Golding in the Printing Works Division Two but they left it late.

An own goal gave them the lead only for Stoke to hit back to take the lead through goals from Sean Ward and Kaine Finch. It was Cameron Milne who scored the equaliser with the last kick of the game to leave the final score at 2-2.

Red Lion took the lead early in their game with Thurlaston Magpies through Carl Craddock only for the Magpies to level things before the break. They then went 3-1 up before Red Lion rallied and took the points after goals from Craddock again, Jonno Fields and Ash Morris.
