Council service open times for festive season

HINCKLEY and Bosworth Borough Council has announced its opening times and arrangemen­ts for some of its services over the festive period.

Here is a list of the main details you need to know: Council office closing times Council services at the Hub will be closed on Monday and Tuesday December 25 and 26 and re-open on Wednesday December 27 at 8.30am.

Council services at the Hinckley Hub will also be closed on Monday January 1 2018. In an emergency call 01455 251137

Free Parking on Tuesday afternoons in Hinckley

Customers are reminded that, in a joint initiative sponsored by the Borough Council and supported by Hinckley Business Improvemen­t District (BID), the borough council will be allowing free parking in all council car parks every Tuesday afternoon in December in order to thank shoppers for their loyalty and to increase trade for shops and businesses.

The free parking offer applies from 1pm on Tuesday December 5, 12 and 19 in all council run short stay and long stay car parks in Hinckley town centre. Hinckley Leisure Centre Hinckley Leisure Centre will close at 1pm on December 24 (last admission at 12pm) and remain closed on Monday and Tuesday December 25 and 26. The centre’s opening hours will be from 7am to 6pm from Wednesday December 27 to Saturday December 30.

The centre will close at 4pm on Sunday December 31 and remain closed on Monday January 1 2018. The centre will revert to normal opening hours from 6:30am on Tuesday January 2. Hinckley Market at Christmas

Over the Christmas period there will be a market every day from Friday December 15 to Saturday December 22. There will be no market on Monday December 25 or Monday January 1 2018. Markets will be back to the usual Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from Friday January 5 2018.

Refuse and recycling arrangemen­ts

There will be alternate arrangemen­ts for collection­s due on Monday December 25, Tuesday December 26 and Monday January 1. All other refuse and recycling collection­s will continue as usual during the Christmas and New Year period.

However, the garden waste (brown bin) collection service will be suspended for two weeks during the Christmas and New Year period (Tuesday December 19 – Monday January 1 2018 inclusive).

Alternate arrangemen­ts for refuse (black bin) and recycling (blue-lid bin) collection­s due on Monday December 25, Tuesday December 26 and Monday January 1 are as follows:

Refuse due on Monday December 25 will be collected on Friday December 22

Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday December 25 will be collected on Saturday December 23

Refuse due on Tuesday December 26 will be collected on Wednesday December 27

Recycling (blue-lid) due on Tuesday December 26 will be collected on Saturday December 30

Refuse due on Monday January 1 will be collected on Friday December 29

Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday January 1 will be collected on Saturday January 6 2018

Barwell Community House will reopen at 9.15am on Tuesday January 2 and Gwendoline and Earl Shilton Community Houses will reopen at 9.15am on Wednesday January 3 2018.
