Snowmen, and squirrels, take the place of runners

-

A WINTER wonderland of snowmen, snow families and snow animals drifted into Hinckley at the weekend.

After a flurry of snow forced Hinckley BID and the borough council to cancel the town’s Festive Fun Run on Sunday, they launched a new competition - to build the best snowman.

Around 150 residents took part in the frosty competition, creating beautiful snowmen across the borough.

The winning entry came from L Lambert, who won a £50 voucher to spend in Hinckley town centre for the impressive squirrel snow creation.

There were also four runnersup - Katy and Ava for Olaf from Frozen, Stefan Wyatt for their family fun entry, Alex Reid for her upside down snowman, and Sarah Weir Smith for her snow dog - each getting a £25 voucher.

Steve Wegerif, from Hinckley BID, said: “Sadly, we had to cancel the Festive Fun Run for safety reasons, but we thought we could still have fun in the snow!

“We were thrilled to see all of the incredible entries - we were overwhelmed with fun and festive pictures of snowmen, snow ladies and snow animals.

“The people of Hinckley really did get creative in their snow day, and it was difficult to pick a winner!

“We look forward now to welcoming everyone to our Santa’s Grotto, which opens its doors this weekend.”
