Register early and you could win free collection

ANYONE in Hinckley and Bosworth who sets up a direct debit for their garden waste collection service before January 31 could win next year’s collection for free.

The borough council has decided that all those who pay for the popular service by direct debit will be automatically entered into a prize draw, with 50 lucky customers winning the free collection service.

The council has also confirmed that this year’s price of £24 per bin will be held for next year (2018/19).

And in addition, for those who pay by direct debit, the council will also guarantee to hold the price at £24 for 2019/20.

Over 31,000 residents now subscribe to the popular service and signing up for direct debit ensures they will get their bin stickers each year without having to contact the council and the service will continue automatically.

Those residents who have yet to set up a direct debit for their garden waste service are urged to go to: www.hinckley-bosworth.gov. uk/ddgw or call the council on Hinckley 238141. The council will collect direct debit payments in April 2018.

Councillor Mark Nickerson, executive member for neighbourhood services, said: “This represents great value, and with such a high uptake helps us to keep it the lowest cost across the county. Plus using direct debit makes it convenient for residents, as well as helping to keep our operating costs down.”

Anyone who chooses not to continue to receive the garden waste service does not need to notify the council. Households can keep the garden waste bin if they wish to, but it will not be emptied unless the annual charge has been paid.
