Fast firefighter response to unit blaze

-

SIX firefighters wearing breathing apparatus doused an industrial blaze at a town centre business centre.

Two crews from Hinckley and a crew from Market Bosworth were turned out to the incident at the Davenport Business Centre in Victoria Street Hinckley.

Fire alarms went off and a call put into the emergency services at just before 3pm on Thursday December 7 from the AirbagTeam premises.

Two appliances went to John Street while the third was in Victoria Road.

A spokesman said: “Eve- ryone got out safely but the area was very smokey.

“The fire had broken out in a small testing booth and it was contained in there, thanks to the safely precautions on site and our fast response time.

“There was no damage to other units at the premises or the centre itself. However, the 3m by 3m compartment affected was badly damaged.”

All staff at AirbagTeam were in work and operations were back to normal.

A spokesman for the firm said: “It was a very minor fire and completely self-contained in one chamber.

“Everyone was evacuated safely and the fire was out within 15 minutes.

“The fire brigade did an outstanding job and we want to thank them for their efforts and thank everyone for their patience while the road was closed as the firefighters did their job.”
