THE number of football-related arrests of Leicester City fans fell by a third last season.

Foxes fans had their collars felt 30 times last season according to the latest data released by the Home Office.

That is down from 43 times the season before.

Football-related arrests are down in the country as a whole.

A total of 1,638 football-related arrests were made last season.

That represents a 14 per cent drop from the previous season when 1,895 arrests were made.

Birmingham City fans were the most arrested with 72 in total.

West Ham fans had their collars felt 67 times, Leeds fans 61 times and Aston Villa fans 52 times.

There was an increase in the number of Leicester fans receiving football banning orders.

A total of two new ones were issued to Foxes fans, up from just one the season before.

Wolves fans received the most new banning orders last season with 32.

They are followed by West Ham with 30, Manchester United with 24 and Barnsley with 22.

Football banning orders are preventative measures issued by the courts either following a conviction for a football-related offence, or following complaint by a local police force, British Transport Police, or the Crown Prosecution Service.

A total of 517 new football banning orders were issued last season. That is down from the 542 which were issued the previous year (2015/16).

The figures are still higher than they were in 2012/13 when just 471 were issued.

However, the Home Office have only started releasing the data to cover a whole season in the last two years, so comparisons to previous years’ releases are not reliable.
