Park staff defended

-

BOSSES at Bradgate Park have posted on Facebook to defend their staff after a member of the public verbally attacked one of them.

The incident happened just before Christmas and was posted on the Bradgate Park Trust Facebook page.

No specific details about the incident were posted but it appears to relate to an incident between staff driving through the park and a pedestrian.

They posted: “Following an incident earlier today we feel obliged to state that the Bradgate Park Trust will not tolerate abuse, either physical or verbal, of its staff, tenants or contractors.

“The tarmac carriageway that runs through Bradgate Park is a private road.

“Public Footpath J74A follows the line of this private road meaning that the general public has a right of way on foot along the road.

“Members of the public do not have a right to impede the progress of vehicles lawfully using the road or to abuse the drivers of those vehicles.

“There is no legal right to cycle along this road but there is a longstanding tradition of permissive access for cyclists.

“Cyclists are required to give way to pedestrians and cycle in a safe manner.”

They later posted to clarify the incident involved a male pedestrian being abusive to a female driver.
