SHACKERSTO­NE’S Christmas Eve Open was fished along the Hags Lane length.

On a mild day Kevin Milne took the honours with a respectabl­e 2lb 15oz catch of small perch and roach from peg 1.

Terry Smith also caught perch and roach to take second place with 2lb 1oz.

Ian Plant had an all roach catch to finish third with 1lb 7oz.

Lychgate Fisheries Christmas Eve Open contest was won by Anthony Maddock, who also qualified for the Lychomania final. Drawn on peg 46 Anthony used bomb and corn tactics to catch 19lb 2ozs.

Runner Up Stu Campton included two unseasonal tench in his 11lb 6oz catch while Guy Hope’s single 9lb 2oz carp was enough for third place.

There was a bumper turn out for the last Maynes Lakes midweek Open before Christmas.

Despite the milder weather anglers still had to break ice before the start.

Leading the way, yet again, was Alan Wilson who needed just 10lb 10ozs of small carp to win.

Results; Pool One, Section One; First; Alan Wilson, peg 31. Section Two; Darryl Moore 4lb 8ozs, peg 34. Pool Two, Section Three; Colin Bent 8lb 10ozs, peg 12.

Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday Open before Christmas was won by Glyn Davies who pole fished sweet corn to catch 19lb 8ozs of bream to 6lbs plus two decent carp for a 29lb 2oz winning total.

Runner Up Paul Bates included a 12lb 4oz Pike in his 15lb 12oz catch from peg 13.

Shackersto­ne have an Open match this Sunday, New Year’s Eve,draw 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Higham Lane Fishery have Open matches every Thursday and Saturday, draw 9am.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches / Lychomania Qualifiers, every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, Draw 9.15am.

Maynes Lakes have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 10am and every Saturday, draw 9am.
