Hospice launches new year challenges
CONTEMPLATING a challenge in 2018? Then look no further than a long list of daredevil derring-dos designed to support the county’s hospice.
This year as its headline public participation fundraiser, Loros has picked an exotic trip through landscapes of south east Asia.
The Vietnam to Cambodia cycle ride will take participants on a 400km journey from the frenzy of Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon - in Vietnam to the tranquillity of the ancient Khmer temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
Taking place from November 24 to December 4 the trip will be the culmination of the Loros calendar of events. Only the Santa Run will succeed it in the fundraising schedule.
Earlier challenges include tower climbs, sky dives, coastal bike treks, obstacle courses and mountain climbs including Kenya’s Mount Kilimanjaro.
Loros events lead Andrew Ward said: “Everyone knows of the timeold saying, ‘new year, new you’ so here at Loros, we’re making things easier for people looking to tick something off their bucket list or take on a new challenge in 2018 by giving them a whole selection to choose from.
“We really do have a challenge for everyone and with the introduction of a couple of new events, as well as the return of a few favourites, we have plenty to choose from.
“And don’t worry if you are a first timer to the world of challenges, we have anything from a one mile fun run, to a 10km walk round Leicester city centre, to ease you in.
Kicking things off, Loros will be holding a free information evening on Tuesday January 30 at 7pm, to discuss the Vietnam to Cambodia bike ride.
