Foster carers and adopters call
PEOPLE who can make a difference to a child’s life are urged to find out about fostering at an event with a county-wide invitation.
Leicestershire County Council is hosting a presentation evening to anyone interested in offering a vulnerable young person a safe and loving home.
The event takes place on Thursday January 18 from 6.30pm to 8pm at Shire Hall in Glenfield.
It is part of a broader and ongoing campaign to increase the numbers of fosterers and adopters in the county.
The authority hopes to attract dozens of new adopters to offer permanent homes to children in care who cannot return, for whatever reason, to their birth parents.
Those in need include babies pre-school children, teenagers, children with disabilities and health issues.
A Leicestershire County Council spokesman said: “Anyone can be considered as an adopter, including people on their own or in a relationship, working or not working.
“You can adopt regardless of your race, religion, sexual orientation or financial situation - and time is spent matching children to families who can meet their needs.
“Adoption is a lifelong commitment and is about providing a child in care who cannot return home with a permanent and secure ‘Forever family’.”
