New baker’s amazing creations a big hit
A TALENTED baker selling spectacular themed cakes, festive cupcakes, homemade truffles and cake balls has set up shop in Hinckley.
Customers have been treated to the delicious delights after the doors to Tracey’s Cake Craft, based on Upper Castle Street, openedlast month.
Run by baker Tracey Shaw, cake fans can expect to order spectacular bespoke creations - recent designs include Beauty and the Beast cakes, and even a 3D alien - from the new shop.
There are also plenty of treats to takeaway daily, including chocolates, cupcakes and cake balls.
Tracey said that she first took up baking when she gave up work to care for her husband, who was diagnosed with cancer.
She added: “The reaction we’ve had since opening has been fantastic, so many positive comments and a really warm welcome from everyone.
“I was looking for a hobby to stop me going stir crazy suddenly being at home 24/7.
“After taking to it quickly and getting requests from friends and family, I eventually decided to register as a home baker but was struggling to keep up with demand - I have a fairly small kitchen and a husband plus four children at home.
“My sister, Kelly Mills, put forward the idea of opening up a shop together and it just happened that the premises on Castle Street were available at the time.”
The shop will be a family-run business - as well as Tracey’s sister, Kelly, her mum, Janice, and her 16-year-old daughter will also work alongside her.
As well as traditional cakes, the keen bakers will also be able to cater for various dietary requirements, and there will also be an area for wedding cake testing and consultations.
Tracey added: “We offer bespoke cakes for every occasion made to order as well as homemade truffles, cupcakes, cake balls and cake jars available daily.
“We are able to cater for different dietary requirements - dairy free, eggless cakes, gluten-free (our truffles are all gluten-free).
“We also stock cake supplies for hobby to skilled bakers and will be offering classes for all levels of cake making and decorating. We’re more than happy to offer advice and give tips when asked.”
