Enderby return from long break to maintain 100% winning record

-

THERE was a limited number of games seeing in the New Year.

In the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division, Enderby Social maintained their 100% league record and moved upto second spot with a 3-2 home win against a very good Rogue Elite side.

In their first league game for two months they were a goal down at the break to a headed goal, despite missing three good chances.

The game continued with few chances being created but burst into life on the hour mark when Tom Marrs delivered a cross to the far post for Kriggy Barker to head back for Dan Goss to head the equaliser.

Five minutes later The Social were in front when Marrs again delivered for Barker to provide Tom Holland with his first goal for the club.

As they dropped deeper to defend the lead Enderby then scored their third on the break as Atkinson found Castleman to make it 3-1.

After they had quickly replied, Rogue Elite then put the Enderby goal under siege for the last ten minutes but couldn’t find the equaliser in a very even, hard fought game.

The League’s last remaining survivors in the County Intermediate Cup went out at the quarter final stage as Wykin FC lost 7-3 at Wigston Plough Rovers.

In the PWS Leicester Division One, Athletico Duke and AFC Pubwatch Wanderers fought out an entertaining 2-2 draw to maintain their challenge to leaders Ullesthorpe.

Duke were 2-1 up at the break thanks to two goals from Connor Pugh, the second a 30 yard screamer into the top corner.

Pubwatch were not to be denied a share of the spoils though and deservedly hit back in the second half through an excellent strike from Ash Mason to make it 2-2.

In the match between the two Reserve sides in the division, it was Sporting Dynamo Reserves who came out on top winning 2-1 at Topps Reserves.

There were three matches in the Printing Works Division Two.

Thurlaston Magpies took over at the top of the table after they travelled to Shilton United and came away winners through the only goal of the game.

Stoke Golding are upto second and again the game was decided by the solitary goal from Danny Wilson.

There was more goalscoring entertainment at The Gravity as they gained their first win of the season against AFC Barn. Consolation goals for Barn came from Daniel Swainmoore (2) and Damien Haswell.
