Voice finalist stars in Sound of Music

New funds available for small and medium sized firms

GET LOST in the Sound of Music as the beloved musical takes to the stage in Coventry this February.

The wonderfull­y lavish staging of A Sound of Music will come to the Belgrade Theatre from Tuesday February 6 and will run until Saturday February 10.

Featuring some of the most memorable songs ever performed on stage, including Edelweiss, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, So Long Farewell, and of course, The Sound of Music, the hit musical promises to delight audiences both young and old.

The classic tale tells the true story of the world-famous singing Von Trapp family, from their romantic beginnings and search for happiness, to their BOSSES of small and medium sized enterprise­s across Leicesters­hire are urged to access a new funding stream to unlock job creation and ultimately, growth.

The Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), supported by the European Regional Developmen­t thrilling escape to freedom at the start of WWll.

The Sound of Music is a 1965 American musical drama film produced and directed by Robert Wise, and starring Julie Andrews and Christophe­r Plummer, with Richard Haydn and Eleanor Parker. The film is an adaptation of the 1959 Broadway musical of the same name, composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstei­n II. The film’s screenplay was written by Ernest Lehman, adapted from the stage musical’s book by Lindsay and Crouse. Based on the memoir The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria von Trapp, the film is about a young Austrian woman studying to become a nun in Salzburg in 1938 who is sent to the villa of a retired naval officer Fund, has launched with the first loans going out to firms across the wider region.

The MEIF is delivered by the British Business Bank and the Fund with some £120 million of debt finance and small business loans available to eligible firms. Firms in Leicester, Milton Keynes and Nottingham are among those to benefit from the debut round.

Nick Pulley, chairman of the MEIF strategic oversight board, said: “It is heartening to see the first businesses tap into the opportunit­ies presented by the fund and having built a strong pipeline of deals, the fund is well set to accelerate this progress. SMEs that are in the market for external finance and have growth aspiration­s should check the website and seek out fund managers to find out how the MEIF could take their business to the next level.”

Patrick Magee, chief commercial officer at the British Business Bank, said: “Our aim is to make finance markets work better for smaller businesses and address regional inequaliti­es in funding. Through our work with the MEIF, we’re poised to support investment, growth and job creation throughout the Midlands.”

Ajay Naik, director at Leicester-based BCME, owner of specialist education provider Echo Factory and a beneficiar­y said: “At this stage of the business cycle, it is often challengin­g to engage with mainstream lenders, we were surprised by how straightfo­rward and logical the MEIF’s lending process was. It’s been hugely refreshing to speak to fund managers, in person, to explain the merits, strengths and aspiration­s of Echo Factory and via the support provided unlock the next step in our growth. We’re now poised to significan­tly bolster our 2018 student intake and further expand the range of courses available to those looking to enrol.”

The funds provided to BCME will be deployed to market its degree-level music courses, maximising student numbers and empowering the institutio­n to become self-sustaining.
