A BRAND new adaption of a festive favourite, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is going to be the festive show at the Curve later this year.

Bosses at the venue have just announced the family favourite show willl be coming to the stage in Leicester and tickets are already on sale.

Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said the Curve will be producing the classic musical as well as hinting at the plans they have in store to celebrate 10 years of Curve.

Curve will mark their 10th Birthday with a series of special events including their most ambitious Community and Curve Young Company Musical to date Joseph Stein’s Fiddler on the Roof, and Curve Live!- a free public concert featuring performances from friends of Curve and special guest stars.

Speaking about the announcements, Chris Stafford and Nikolai Foster said:

“In 10 years Curve has established itself as a leading producing theatre in the UK reaching over one million people a year through the work we present and produce in our LE1 home and on tour.

“We are incredibly proud of our theatre and to celebrate our first decade we will programme a series of special events to thank the people of Leicester.

“We are particularly excited to announce Curve Live! a free public concert and our most ambitious event to date - at the heart of our Birthday celebrations.

“In the last few years we have forged terrific partnerships with some of the UK’s best theatre producers and we are delighted to once again be work- ing with Jamie Wilson and his team to produce a new production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas next autumn.

“White Christmas is the perfect festive show and we very much hope the production we create here in Leicester will be seen around the UK for many Christmases to come.”

Co-Producer Jamie Wilson said: “I am thrilled to be presenting an alltime classic, re-imagined for a new generation of musical theatre lovers to fall in love with all over again. I am delighted to be working once again with the team at Curve to bring this hugely popular Christmas favourite to the stage.”

Based on Paramount Pictures heart-warming Christmas film of the same name starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and book by David Ives and Paul Blake, White Christmas tells the story of an ex-army turned showbiz double-act teaming up with an all-singing, all-dancing sister act, to save Christmas for their former Commanding Officer who has fallen on harder times since the end of WWII.

Featuring a dazzling, instantly rec- ognisable score including Blue Skies, Sisters, Count your Blessings and arguably the most famous Christmas song of them all, White Christmas, Irving Berlin’s beloved Broadway sensation is an enduring tale of friendship, camaraderie, hope and the pursuit of happiness, told through spectacular dance routines and some of the greatest musical theatre songs ever written.

Tickets for the Made at Curve 2018 Christmas production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas are on sale now For more information visit www.curveonline.co.uk.
