WADE ON WATER with Richard Wade

-

IT’S been another difficult week for local anglers as snow and ice caused havoc on local waters.

Thick ice greeted those who turned up for Saturdays Higham Lane Fishery Open causing it to be called off while on Sunday the decision to call off Shackestones Open match at the draw proved to be a good one as heavy snow caused lots of problems later on in the day.

Lychgate Fisheries did get some fishing in on Sat- urday, but a single bream landed by Gaz Kitching was enough to win, while the second round of the DM Floats Silver fish league fished at Makin’s produced few fish with most struggling for a bite.

It was a challenging time for those who turned out for Mayne’s Lakes midweek Open as the bitterly cold weather made bites very hard to come by.

Darryl Moore needed just 6lb 14ozs from peg 10 on Pool 2, to take the hon- ours while Ian Haddon finished top on Pool 1 with a 4lb 5oz catch from peg 34.

In-form Kev Milne took the honours yet again in Higham Lane’s Thursday Open. Drawn on peg 12.

Kev fished “bomb and corn” to finish with a 23lb 9oz catch of carp.

John Varley came second with 10lb 8ozs from peg five with Ian Shirley taking third place with 9lb 8ozs.

Lutterworth & District angling club travelled to Makin’s Phase Two for their latest contest.

Using the Lizard and Lagoon Pools, produced a few fish for most with Micky Davis taking the honours with a 41lb 6oz catch of carp taken on legered bread.

Luke Moore came second with 39lb while Pete Wilson finished third with 37lb.
