Man dies following blaze at terraced house
Paramedics and fire service attended incident in Trinity Lane
AN early morning housefire in Hinckley claimed the life of a 30-year-old man on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the terraced property on Trinity Lane at around 9.15am and rescued the man from the house.
However, despite the efforts of firefighters and paramedics at the scene he was declared dead a short time later.
Police initially arrested a 23-year-old woman in connection with the blaze. However, she was released on Monday with no further action being taken.
A statement from Leicestershire Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a file was being prepared for the Leicestershire coroner’s office.
Released on Monday afternoon, the statement said: “Officers investigating a fatal house fire in Hinckley at the weekend have concluded their enquiries.
“The police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue service were called to a property in Trinity Lane at 9.15am on Sunday (4 February).
“A 30-year-old man was res- cued from the fire but sadly died.
“Following an investigation the fire is not being treated as suspicious and file will now be prepared for HM Coroner.
“A woman was arrested in connection with the investigation she has since been released with no further action.”
Police remained at the scene of the tragedy on Monday as investigations remained ongo- ing however the scene was cleared by Monday evening.
A floral tribute to the victim was also placed next to the front door of the house.
Trinity Lane was closed for most of Sunday as fire investigators and scenes of crime officers examined the scene in an effort to establish the cause of the fire.
The road reopened at around 9pm when police confirmed the news that a man had lost his life in the blaze.
News of the death has left many shocked with the victim being described on social media as a much-loved and talented musician.
Commenting on The Hinckley Times Facebook page, Paul Woodhouse said: “Not just a man. One of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of calling a friend.”
