We need to fund the defence of this country

YOU have to go back to when Neville Chamberlain was Prime Minister, to find the service chiefs’ publicly begging a Tory government to adequately fund the defence of this country.

He did not listen, and look what happened, and Theresa May and her chancellor, Phillip Hammond are not listening now!

When Labour were in power, they forced the Royal Navy to buy warships’ that were not fit for purpose, with the result that when the Falklands war came along, Argentina, a third world country was able to sink them with ease.

Labour, back in power, then sent our troops’ off to war in Iraq, and Afghanistan, under equipped, under manned, and under financed.

Our service personnel died needlessly for the want of adequate (political) support. The Tories promised us that they would never allow this to happen again, yet here we are ?

We know that under the plans of the left, that if they get back in power they will, with the support of the Lib/Dems and the SNP, decimate the defences of our country.

The only war the left knows how to fight is against the people, as is evident from history, so Russian tanks rolling west would be welcome by them!

It beholds the Tories to honour the covenant to our service personnel, and remember if you want peace, then prepare for war, for should war come, preparation is too late.

As an aside, may I just add that no matter how much John Payne tortures the English language, he has yet to succeed in illustrating the virtues of his extremist (leftist) views.
