CHARITY workers for Headway, the brain injury association, are calling on businesses to put donation stations in their workplaces to support the cause.

The specially-designed collection bins come with bags to fill with donations which are collected and replenished as necessary by charity volunteers working for the Hinckley support store on Station Road.

Hinckley’s is one of just 29 Headway charity shops in the whole of the UK.

Store manager Alison Craven said: “Headway is the UK’s leading brain injury charity which provides support, services and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields.

“We are in desperate need of quality stock and are asking employers in and around the area if they would be willing to help us house a donation station collection bin.

“This could be used by either staff alone in a can- teen or staff room or put in a foyer for customers to also use.

“It does not have to be a permanent arrangement.

“We would be grateful for even a month or so.”

The station measures 600mm square by 1000mm tall and has a header board that measures 450mm high which holds the donation bags.

The bags are collected and replenished on request.

One of the first firms to take on a donation station in this area was motorcycle and accessories supplier Moto Central in Wolvey.

Proprietor Neil Bell said it was the first time the company had supported a charity store in this way.

He said: “For me it’s really to do with trying to prevent stuff going to landfill and getting it recycled.

“What some people class as scrap many people would class as usable items.”

Anyone interested in supporting Headway by taking on a donation station is asked to call Alison Craven at the Hinckley support store on Hinckley 636639.
